What can a Functional Aging Specialist do for you?

In the past year I used the time during the lockdown to expand my knowledge about effective movement programs for older clients, i.e. those 50 years or older.

Edging ever closer to the upper limit of the 55 - 59 age bracket myself, I know how important it is to stay moving - for the physical as much as for the emotional benefits.

I figured it would be very useful to learn more about the best way to stay strong, healthy and active.

I completed the certification program offered by the Functional Aging Institute (FAI) and am thrilled with the knowledge I gained.

The FAI program is innovative, effective and evidence-based and provides in-depth information about functional training strategies and movements, appropriate assessments and programming that works.

It’s for those of us who are older and want to keep moving but stay safe and injury free while doing so.

And it is also for those of you who just haven’t been able to get into a regular movement routine yet but would like to - safely, effectively and with your goals in mind.

It’s never too late to start to move.

It’s never too late to learn how to move better.

It’s never too late to get back to doing what you love to do - whether it’s hiking, gardening, volunteering, golfing, tennis, playing with your grandkids, traveling, etc etc etc

Yes! You can be fit, healthy, vibrant and functional at any age!

No! You don’t have to get used to your back hurting or your hip aching or the pain in your knees or your wrists just because you are older now.

Based on the FAI’s research, incorporating all 6 areas of physical function in your movement session will help you maintain your ability to do what you need to do, what you want to do and what you like to do as late in life as possible.
